After going to the trouble and expense of adding memory to my Dell Inspiron laptop, this game still does not work. It now passes all of the system requirement tests, but still dies with an error before it even comes up. What a waste of time and money. I give up.

I have seen some reviews complaining about the quality of CDs and since I had this problem too, I wanted to make it visible. Tried my DVDs on 4 different computers which never had any problem with any heavier games, they would only work in one and only 2 of the 4 games. In fact the game behaves as if the CDs were not recognizable/authentic. It "ignores" them. Support outside the US is a subcontractor which basically makes you test the hell out of everything, upgrade firmwares and all kinds of stuff until you give up. And I gave up after 3 weeks. In the meanwhile you go to the forums and learn there were some bad manufacturing batches of DVDs but no one ever tried to check if mine were in those batches. My kid is very disappointed and so am I with this bad support. The 2 games I managed to start are fine though especially because the Star Wars magic is in there.

Some slight spoilers: After suffering through the LEGO Star Wars titles, I needed a really good light saber wielding game to rekindle my interest in the Jedi. In the back of my mind I remembered something about Knights and decided to see if it was still on the shelf, and I found this package deal with another game similar to Warlords Battlecry, another favorite of mine. Perfect! Knights of the Old Republic would not start up smoothly after installation, which I thought was odd for a PC three years newer than the game. However, after updating my graphics drivers the game runs very well with some adjustments made to the graphic options. I first played KotOR as a light side male, and got totally caught up in the storyline. Seriously, this thing plays out like a Star Wars movie and you end up caring about your party members....a lot....and far more than I ever expected....and I'll admit some more than others. Later at a critical point in the story and the second time through the game, I tried branching over to the dark side and was quite shocked and disgusted with the fate of some of the characters in different endings. This made me realize that KotOR is far more than just a duke-'em-out lightsaber game. It teaches you all about the differences between the Light and Dark sides, and brings a much greater understanding to the feature films. I also found out your character can die even after beating the antagonist, so save those games frequently with the quick save feature. You can even check out some cheat codes for a really hilarious ending. The only things I didn't like or use often were the card game, duels, murder mysteries, and swoop racing but the rest of the game more than makes up for weak spots in my personal preferences. Empire at War is just plain fun. No installation hitches at all during setup. I really enjoy the strategic management and got beat up in tactical situations when I made mistakes. This game is also addictive and provides a nice change of pace from the intimate settings in KotOR. Many scenarios are available so you may choose to fight a few battles, or go for the entire galaxy. I also enjoyed the two campaigns for the Republic and Empire and found it quite fun to employ characters and equipment from the Original Trilogy. Someday I'll get around to the other three titles, but I'm having a lot of fun with just two of them so far.

This was the best game of its time very highly addictive. Impossible to stop playing, just as impossible to make enough gil to keep your character upgraded through the levels. I spent lots of real money buying gil from the various chinese sites. Staying up till 5 and 6am 5 days a week and not even sleeping on days off from work. Adventuring with your linkshell on never ending thirst to quest and level up. I played for about a year after the game was first released, leveling up a monk and started working on a palodin. One day I came home from work and just cancelled my account. You can re-activate your account for 3 months but I never did. Its been 4 or 5 years since I last played but from what I can tell now, other then im glad I was able to quit is that the game has not changed very much. Grpahics are a bit out dated by today's standards but that just means you dont have to update a modern computer too much. I still play games to this day but have been carful to steer clear of FF, WoW and will keep clear of Spore for the same reasons.

The game is alot of fun and enjoyable. The only thing I would like to see is that the cost of $12.95 per month after a 30 Trail period be entered in the discription so that future purchasers know.

Jitensha~Kujata Server~75WHM 75BLM I have been playing FFXI for several years now, and I can tell you that Square Enix always keeps it coming!!! FFXI is not just the first worldwide cross server game, and multi platform game, with beautiful graphics (in comparison to other MMORPGS), it's a world for players who want to be challenged, even if you're not a Final Fantasy fan. Many of you might find mixed reviews about the game, and I will admit that the FFXI experience is a bit more demanding and time consuming than other MMORPGS. I will conquer on the idea that you can't have fun if you don't have a lot of time though. I'm a young woman, planning to get married soon, just finished school (full time 6 classes a semester), worked, and still had time to play (as well as sleeping, eating, and spending time with loved ones of course). It is possible, you just need to manage your time correctly. Another reason people don't like the game is because it's not really Newbie friendly. I mean, they have different campaigns for new characters, mentor programs, special items and quests etc, but the constant leveling and less challenging quests can be boring for a player until they reach level 30. That level is when the fun begins, parties become more strategic, players can obtain advanced jobs, and much more, but as stated before, in comparison to other MMORPGS, reaching level 30 could seem like forever. On a more positive note, once a player reaches level 30+ and is able to explore Vana'diel more, they will start to realize what a detail and amazing world it is! FFXI has an AMAZING jaw dropping story line with each expansion, and they just keep getting better and better! FFXI even covers more than it had when it started. We now can enjoy over 20 jobs, with an amazing sub job system, several PVP's, even more challenging End Game events for rare/exclusive armor and weapons, Campaign battles, and more! Also with the Special Task Force the economy is a million times better, and the game is more fun to play now. Square Enix has for many years kept it's ears open to the players, and I'm sure I can speak for many FFXI fans that the game has evolved into something amazing. On another happy note, FFXI might now have as many players as other MMORPGS...not they make commercialize in the US, only in Japan (God knows why...)...but I will assure you, the number of 12 year olds are significantly less than that in WoW LOL...

First of all, this game has all kinds of bugs, errors, and compatibility issues, it took me 2 days and a NO-CD hack to even get the game to start... They used a crappy dual layer dvd copy protection scheme which failed to do anything other than force me to use a crack to even play the game. The trouble shooting and support for this game are also terrible. Initially once the game started I was impressed. However that soon faded as I became frustrated with the poorly designed user interface and character movement/targeting controls. This is NOT a WASD game, if it were this review would be at least a 3 star. Its disappointing because had they used a different mode for controlling the character the game would have been fantastic. Graphically it is impressive at times, mostly early in the game. You can tell that they really stretched for content towards the end. The gear system is ridiculous. There are dozens of worthless statistics that appear on 90% of the magic items, making them worthless. The 'Bosses' don't even drop magic items... WTF kind of RPG game has bosses with no loot... But luckily gear is so worthless that you can literally play the entire game as a caster completely naked. And if you want to play melee good luck, the targeting system is horrible. Overall this game had massive potential, but once again the developers failed big time.

This game is pretty much another 'Hack-n-Slasher' in the same tradition as the "Gizillion" of others that most of you who have played games like "Diablo","Dungeon Siege" and most recently "Titan's Quest". Although there are a few features that set this one apart from the others, it's pretty much the same formula dressed up in a different package. Now in no way am i downing this title because I am enjoying it. I purchased this one to sort of break up the monotunous (leveling up) that i am doing in "Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion"-(Yes,i am one of those who haven't beat this one yet due to the sometimes boredom of the game, and believe me I'm a HUGE Elder Scrolls fan from way back, but 'Oblivion' sometimes makes me yawn). Back to this one though. Graphics are well put together and so far i have not had any problems in that department. The story although not all together original, does have a way of keeping your interest, but the constant re-adjusting of the camera angle that you'll find yourself doing in battle can be very tedious and fustrating. The balance of the game can be unnerving for beginners though because even set on the (Normal) setting you'll find yourself dying way too often than you would like especially when you're battling not only Hordes of enemies, but also the camera as well. Not a bad game..but not a great one either,it has it's moments though. I recommend this one to those who are looking for some time to kill between other titles that you are playing and need a break to keep it fresh. 3 Stars and 'Suprisingly' a higher "FUN FACTOR" than (Oblivion), yet in no way as intresting, addictive or as engaging as the "Icewind Dale" "Baldur's Gate" or even closer to this type of gameplay- The "Sacred" series. -holyknight8

I'll keep this short. -I found the game highly entertaining. -I didn't experience any major bugs that I can remember. -You're choices between Tech and Nature effect the look of Silverfall. -Cell-shading type of graphics were well done. -My only real complaint is that it was too easy. I was a combat spec'd Tech Troll, and Even late in the game I was one-shotting things. I was also leveling up every 15 minutes or so. At first it was cool, but after awhile it took away the excitement you normally feel when you ding in other RPGs. Basically, I would say this is a good game for the casual RPG fan, or anyone that just wants to sit down for an hour and bash things.
